Respecting our local environment

Certified Organic since 2022 (a process that began in 2019), the estate practices viticulture that respects natural balances. A mixed-crop system incorporating trees has been implemented to enhance biodiversity and interactions between ecosystems.

In the young vineyards, soil cultivation is sometimes carried out using animal-drawn implements, allowing for gentle soil maintenance and better preservation of its biological life.

The vineyards are situated on gently sloping Agenais clay loam, ideal for producing wines that are full-bodied, balanced, and fresh. Cooler, more hilly, and endowed with deep clay-limestone soils rich in water resources, the Entre-deux-Mers region is organized around numerous and varied forest islands, with diverse exposures and omnipresent biodiversity.

Here, the vineyards coexist with woods and farmlands, forming a landscape that remains wild and unspoiled, conducive to demanding organic viticulture and wines with a natural and authentic identity.

After completing his studies in viticulture and oenology, Fabien Lapeyre joined the family winery during the 2011 harvest, with the goal of transforming it from the ground up.

Founded in 1879, the family-owned estate has been passed down through five generations. Long operated according to a traditional Bordeaux model, with an area of 45 hectares and sales through wine merchants, the vineyard is now undergoing a profound transformation. It is evolving toward an independent, human-scale model, with nearly 15 hectares planned by spring 2026 (7 ha of white, 8 ha of red).

For nearly 15 years, the estate has been a testing ground: plot-by-plot work, winemaking experiments, the revival of nearly forgotten grape varieties, and constant reflection on the Bordeaux identity. This gradual transition now appears to be bearing fruit, resulting in wines that are more precise, more expressive, and more distinctive.

The work continues tirelessly to:

Create unique vintages,

Reveal the distinct character of the soils and grape varieties,

Segment production to enhance quality precision.

This approach appeals to curious wine lovers as well as enthusiasts and “wine geeks” eager to rediscover Bordeaux in a new light.
